Introduction
Within
the Natal Chart of an individual there are a
number of areas which can be viewed as symbolic
depictions of past life karma and the potential
means and process by which karma can be worked
off in this incarnation.
Underlying
this is the premise that the soul is eternal and
the energy of the soul reincarnates in order for
the splintered aspects of the soul to interact
in physical matter as an opportunity for the
soul to heal and balance its energy (to flow
further in its journey toward spiritual
wholeness) in accordance with the law of karma.
Simply
put - we keep coming back till we
"get it right".
In
physical matter, the splintered parts of the
soul which require healing as well as the parts
which have become whole through the process of
spiritual evolution form the personality.
In
Astrology the South Node and the North Node of
the Moon can be viewed as karmic
"hotspots" in the Natal Chart.
The Nodes of the Moon, more so than any of the
other karmic "hotspots", provide us
with the best opportunity to see, indirectly,
the "footprints" of the soul in its
path toward wholeness.
Where
an individual chooses to block the path of their
spiritual evolution, they will attract into
their lives external dramatic events and crises
(wake-up calls) as a potential means of
providing the internal impetus required to free
the energy blockage and to steer them in the
necessary direction.
Mathematical definition of Moon's Nodes
The
Nodes of the Moon are not physical bodies.
They are the 2 points in space where the Moon,
as it circles the Earth each month, crosses the
Earth's orbit around the Sun.
The
ascending point where the Moon crosses from
south to north is the North Node.
The
South Node is the descending point where the
Moon crosses from north to south.
Symbolic
meaning of Nodes of the Moon
South
Node
The
South Node depicts the past life imbalances of
the energy of the soul expressed through
overemphasis of certain personality aspects and
patterns of behaviour. In a sense, the
South Node represents a key area of past life
karma.
North
Node
The
North Node depicts the basic lesson that needs
to be learnt as well as the potential means and
process in the present incarnation to heal a
significant area of the energy imbalance of the
soul. In a sense, the North Node
represents the key process or the path by which
the karma of the South Node can be worked off in
order to achieve a greater sense of spiritual
wholeness.
The Balancing Act
The
Sign and House position of the North Node are
always exactly opposite those of the South Node
(eg. North Node in Libra in 10th House, South
Node in Aries in 4th House). This polarity
of the Nodes forms the Nodal Axis.
The
difficult challenge relating to healing a key
splintered part of the soul isn't about
transforming the energy emanating from the South
Node into that of the North Node. The
challenge lies in finding a state of balance (an
integration of both the South and North Node
energies) on the Nodal Axis.
The
Nodal Axis depicts a path to a path - the
path by which a key area of energy imbalance of
the soul can heal and thereby facilitate the
process of alignment with the key spiritual
purpose or path of this incarnation.
