Industrial Automation
Ilios Research and Development have worked in the
industrial automation industry to provide solutions in robotic control and
integration services, drawing on our extensive expertise in GUI design,
mathematical analysis and in PLC programming.

Motion Solutions are distributors for a range of
leading automation product manufacturers including Parker Hannifin, Galil
Motion Control, and Advanced Motion Control. They also provide integration
services to the automation industry and solutions for robotic control
applications.
We have worked alongside Motion Solutions to develop a
number of robot control algorithms for multi-axis motion for use in industrial
applications, drawing on our extensive expertise in mathematical analysis
and control programming.
We worked with Motion Solutions to provide a
comprehensive user interface for a sheetmetal-folding machine (pictured
below). This included complete GUI design and development using customised
controls suitable for an industrial touch-panel display, dynamic 3-D
display with real-time feedback, and machine interface using a CAN-bus
controller.
It also required an algorithm for determining the
optimal sequence of folds; the machine is capable of folding sheetmetal
into complex shapes and an algorithm was required to determine exactly how
to fold the sheet to produce a given shape, within the confines of the
machine’s geometry.

South-East Water ‘Blok-Aid’ System

Ilios
Research and Development has worked with a number of utility companies in
the water, oil & gas, and electrical industries to provide many PLC
programming solutions.
One
recent example was the award-winning ‘Blok-Aid’ system which
was recently developed by South-East Water and Grundys Electrics in Melbourne, for
overflow protection of sewer mains and stormwater systems. Ilios provided
the PLC programming for the ‘SCADAPack’ RTUs, to enable them to
handle GSM communications and to parse and process the SMS messages used in
this system.
