This is my bundle of fun...
Still nameless and undecided on the sexuality of my car, but I love it all the same(although I was tempted to change to a new 2001 last weekend). The car is pretty standard and has just turned 4 years old (27 Aug 01). The photos are taken in my front driveway in sunny Northern Ireland and that was one of the better days. I drive my little car with the roof down as much as possible - just wrap up warm! I find that if I have the drivers side window down and keep the passengers up, I have no need for a wind jammer.... but I am sure my passengers feel different!
I have some minor modifications, these are - Modified Air filter, Advanced timing, Engine bay brace and about to get some lowering springs - sits a bit too high at the moment. It has aftermarket 14"s but I am looking for a set of 17"s or 18"s... just want to find ones that look right.
The music system in my car was terrible so when I had the chance, I upgraded to Image Dynamics 17cm Doors & Tweeters, Sony electronic crossover, 2 big Sony amps (XM????) (one for drivers, one for tweeters) and Pioneer CD Player ... and now a 6 disc changer as well.
Recently the car was reregistered with a personalised plate as a treat - I was living in NYC for a couple of years and the car was in storage)... and although the car is 4 years old, its only got 20'000 miles!
If you want to chat to me about any thing feel free to mail me on j_bleakley@yahoo.com
Thanks...James Bleakley

My Girl
Hi my name is Raq and this is "My Girl" my 9 year old daughter. I have owned her for the last 6 months and was so excited when summer rolled around and I was finally able to remove my hard-top! (not through lack of trying on the so so days).
After placing a deposit on a family car I came across this little girl at Brighton Mazda and my mind was quickly swayed. This was always my dream car, but after being approved for the finance she was actually mine!
Nothing beats cruising around, just me and my son, with the top down and some Metallica blasting from the CD stacker-that was an absolute MUST.
I feel like I am still dreaming! If so I hope I never wake up!

Hi fellow MX-5 fans, my name is David. I'm from Sydney Australia and this is my 1999 MX-5. I've owned it for just over one year now and its the best car I've ever owned and I've owned quite a few (nine in total). It was pretty much standard when I bought it with 12,000kms. Since then I've put the body kit on it, chrome grille, scuff plates, mats, alloy carbon fibre dash kit, chrome/leather Momo gear knob etc. I still have a few more things I want to do to it like clear indicators/reflectors,chrome double loop roll bars, 17inch wheels and lower it just a bit.
Cheers David

Cheers - James.

Brendan
Hi I' m Brendan from Sydney and this is my 1990 Mx5. Less than 89,000 km on the clock. I have only had it for about 2 months. I would like to do a bit to it, eg 17" rims, hardtop, rollbars, etc but insurance takes all of your spare money when you are 20 ($4200+). So far I have added a 2" sports exhaust with 3" dumper tip and pioneer 6" door speakers.

We live in Melbourne, Australia and whenever opportunity arises, love to go out for long leisurely drives. There is always one HUGE problem, which MX5 do we take, and who will drive ??!!

MX-5 with skis!!

An MX-5 with ski's. Who said an MX was impractical?!
Found in the MX-5 Victoria archives. Thanks to the club for this fun addition to the Gallery!

Well, I recently received an email from Neil Traynor who owns this car! This is what he has to say:

I took the photo of my MX-5 in 1990 for Mazda's parts cat. The regs is MX-005 and was the first White car delivered to City Mazda in Melbourne Australia. The photo was in the car park at Mt Baw Baw and was at the end of what was a very good alpine (gravel 65 k of curves) drive. Still a good drive but many curves gone (now shorter by 28k) but at least now all sealed. Still own her now with 168k +. Have been a member of the MX-5 clubs since inception and a foundation commitee member of the first club formed in Australia. Have lots of history, stories etc from the early days.
Also own plates(apart from the original B/W MX-005 on car).
  • B/W MXFIVE
  • B/W HERMX5
  • B/W HOTMX
  • GREEN BRGMX-5
if anyone is interested in making an offer. None have ever been on a car, and I hold them at home, subject to RTA requirements, tel 03 9850 9930, 04 1110 8765, fax 03 9850 5180 or Email ntraynor @hotmail.com

Betty's car

Hello, My name is Bob Retzer and my wife, Betty, and I have been Miata enthusiasts since 1989!! Betty bought a Red 90 in July 89 and co-founded the Gateway Miata Club in St Louis in 1990. I bought a new Mariner Blue 91 and drove it 110,000 miles before I traded it in March 98 for my 99 Red Leather Package, California Red, pictured above at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. You can read about all my modificatons at http://home.pacbell.net/bretzer/lower . Betty bought a 99 Blue Leather Package at the same time I got Red, then we moved from St Louis to Northern California in November 1998. Last April, she saw the 2000 SE and had to have one!!! We sold her 99 and now her California plate reads 2K SE!!! What a pleasure to own two of the greatest roadsters ever built!!!

Mx5 on bridge

Hi,
My name is Peter Hoffman and I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. This is "Max" my '90 blue Miata. I store it for the winter from Dec. 1 to March 31, therefore it has no rust. It has MOMO 15" wheels, lowered 1 1/2", stiffer sway bars, Trust muffler, K&N cone filter, MOMO "Corse" steering wheel and is currently waiting for a functional roll bar. It is the best car I have ever owned. I'm keeping it forever. I hope to buy another one as a winter car one day but I'll never get rid of "Max".

Here is a photo of my 1 1/2 week old 2000 Special Edition Miata. It had hardly hit the showrooms when we snatched it up. It comes with a matching color picnic backpack that contains plates, silverware, a cutting board, table cloth and napkins, salt and pepper shaker and two wine glasses. The car also came with a beautiful hard back edition book detailing the Miata's history. The book even has pictures of the 2000 Special Edition. The interior has a Nardi wood steering wheel, break handle and shift knob... What a gorgeous car! The pic was taken in Mountain View California.

Love your page.

Hi, this my '99 evolution orange as it is called in The Netherlands. I took this picture in the woods that are nearby Amsterdam (Yep we have woods in Holland) last autumn. It was a beautiful day and I had just put on my hardtop for the upcoming winter. We had just come home from a great trip with the dutch MX-5 club; "the France MX-5 challenge' from Spa-Francorchamps to Monaco through the mountains in 5 days, spectacular!! I have a special MX-5 website with lots of goodies, let me know what you think!

This is my 1997 w/leather pkg. It is stock with the exception of a K&N cone replacing the air box. Next modification will be an improved exhaust system enabling it to sound like a proper sports car. It lives in the U.S. in a small town on Long Island.

This is a picture of my 1991 V Spec BRG. I have added the front spoiler and a rear skirt, a hard top with heated rear window, a strut bar across the shock towers, a carbon fibre dash and various other goodies. It came with air con, polished sill plates, CD player, head rest speakers, power aerial, LTD slip dif, speed sensitive power steering, elect windows plus several suspension braces. It is my third MX5 having bought a new red one in 1990 and importing another BRG from Japan. I live on the coast here in New Zealand and with hundreds of miles of uncrowded roads it is a pleasure to get out in my MX5.

Here are some pictures of my Silver 99. It's still brand new (6 days old in the pictures). I live in the sparsely populated mountains of Northern New Mexico. These pictures were taken near my house. I's a great place to ride a Miata - sunny days 12 months out of the year and tons of twisty mountain roads with little or no traffic (except for deer and elk). My other wheeled toys include a 650 Kawasaki Dual Sport motorcycle, an RX-7, and a Subaru Outback. The adobe dwelling in the first picture is inside Bandelier National Monument, the large black mesa in the background of the second picture is actually an integral volcanic 'plug' that formed when a nearby volcano erupted long ago. In the picture that has me in it, you can see a canyon that formed from the solidified ashes. This entire area consists of canyons formed from volcanic activity. We're about 40 miles north of Santa Fe.

Hi, thought I'd send you a picture of my MX5 for inclusion on your site.
The car was a Japanese import to the UK, hence it's loaded with goodies that the UK spec cars don't come with unless you want to shell out thousands. Air Con, CD, Adjustable suspension, Hard/soft tops, Power steering etc.
Hope you like the picture.

This is our only little baby! We have only owned it for a few months, but it is becoming a very welcome addition. The 'Brilliant Black' MX-5 is a 1995 model 1.8l manual with air cond., and now has an Alpine CD + improved speakers, genuine Mazda chrome scuff plates & carpet mats and 16" alloy wheels with 205/45 tyres.
(This is a photo taken with the previous owners, we hope to add a new pic later!)

We strictly use only Mobil 1 fully-synthetic oil, premium unleaded fuel & are about to add a Loch Stewart muffler & exhaust. We are members of the MX-5 Owners Club of Victoria.
We will never part with it, unless we can afford a new model oneday.

This is our Lagoona Blue MX 5. Purchased in May 1999 second hand from Brighton Mazda with 75,000 Km on the clock. We recently travelled to Narooma (South coast NSW) for 5 days and enjoyed top down motoring through the stunning coastal ranges. Thanks to Lyndsey Howatt's patent wind breaker that we acquired before the trip, I could actually read the newspaper while Judy punted along at 110 -120 Km per hour. We joined the Victorian Mx 5 club and are enjoying activities and the shared interest.

Have attached some jpg's taken at Macedon as well!

Hi all, I'm from Wokingham, England, about 30 miles west of London.
I thought it was time you had a UK car in your gallery so here is a picture of my 1998 MX5 1.8i Limited edition "Berkeley" No 181 of 400. The Limited Edition package includes "Sparkle Green" paint, 2-tone black/grey leather seats and matching door-panels, wood-effect dash trim, special alloy wheels with 195/50/15 tyres, Embroidered Carpet mat set, Momo leather steering wheel and stainless steel rear brace bar, scuff plates and boot-rack.
I have since added an Oris Windstop (essential for UK driving), Momo leather gear knob and Yoko tyres as well as upgrading the speakers and adding an amplifier in the boot.
The roads here in the south of England are great for the spirited driving the MX5 craves, it's just a pity the weather doesn't allow the top to be down as often as it should be!

Hi, I thought it was about time I sent in a picture of my car for your gallery!
My 1999 MX-5 in evolution gold (I requested silver but they said I would need to wait up to six months for the next shipment!) is now the second in my family, this picture was taken in the nearby mountains in Tasmania, where I live. I live in Deloraine, a small town in the north east of the state, a great place to be by the way!
I think we have some of the best roads in Australia down here, and its a certainly a great place to own a car like this!
