Mazda Australia has called on its Hiroshima head office for more MX-5's following the successful launch of the
new model two months ago."We literally cannot keep up with the dealer's order intake," says a jubilant Managing Director, Malcolm Gough. Mr Gough said Mazda had been encouraged by the number of "conquest" sales for the new model. "We thought owners of the previous models would be the main buyers of the new car, but there have been significant sales to people who are trading in other makes and models." In its first buyer study of the new model, Mazda has found almost 78% of buyers are males with more than 66% of purchasers married and equally divided between those with and without dependent children. The favourite colour has emerged as the dark "Grace Green" which accounted for 27% of sales. Next was "Classic Red" at 21% with the striking "Evolution Gold" third at 20%. Manual soft top versions accounted for 72% of sales while removable "hard tops" were added to another 21%. Four speed automatics accounted for the balance, 7%. Mr Gough said styling was praised by 100% of the buyers who also mentioned "value for money" and "build quality". Courtesy of MXtra, the News Bulletin of the Mazda MX-5 Club of Victoria ![]() |
