WOMEN’S SECTION REPORT
Well, season 2001 has started off successfully for the women ’s section. After round 7 State League 1 are second on the ladder. Pennant A,C and District 3 all have 3 wins,1 draw and 3 losses and are sitting 5/6
th on the ladder. With Cameron ’s departure to the UK and Ross taking up his position, Fiona Thornley has stepped into the role as Erin ’s assistant. Unfortunately Fiona injured her knee before the season started and has stepped, or should I say hobbled, into the position easily.After playing a defeating the newcomers to League 1 convincingly in Round 1 the league 1 team have had a successful start to the season, drawing with last years premiers, and only having one loss so far. The top 2 women ’s teams have seen quite a few new players this year. Recruits include: Justine Hiskins -Hawthorn, Megan Berriman -Albury, Terri Burke -TEM, Tash Freeman -Waverley, Trish McBride -Doncaster, Liz Nelms -Elsternwick and Nicole Patten. The District 3 team are still looking for a goalkeeper, so if anyone has any friend who might be interested please let me know.
