Medals AustraliaEven with the implementation of the Order of Australia
and the other Australian awards, persons holding existing honours bestowed
under the British based system retained their ranking within the Australian
Order
of Precedence of Honours and Awards as published in the Commonwealth
of Australia Gazette.
The system awards service medals for those who have given fifteen years
service in the Defence Forces, Police,
Fire,
Ambulance,
Australian
Protective Service, correctional
services and/or the State Emergency
Service.
These Australian awards have varied over time and have also taken into consideration the conflicts and peace keeping and monitoring missions in which Australians have found themselves.
If you know what the award looks like but do not know what it is, go to the pick n click page.
Please utilise the following list for further information on each area of award.
