Introduction

Max G Meth

The first Australian caving glossary was written in 1960 by Joseph N Jenninngs. Over the years this has appeared in a few publications and has been updated. It most recently appeared as:

JENNINGS Joe N, 1985, CAVE AND KARST TERMINOLOGY, in Matthews P G (ed), Australian Karst Index 1985, ASF Broadway, pp 14.1-13

This Glossary of Speleological and Caving Terms on Internet is a follow up to an article:

METH Max G, 1998, CAVING DEFINITIONS, in AUSTRALIAN CAVER, No. 143, February 1998, ASF Broadway, pp 7-8.

Following the definition of each term in the glossary is the THEME and the REFERENCE. The REFERENCE is the source of the term. This is for the first recorded listing of the term in an Australian caving glossary, or in some other publication. It does not reflect the authorship of the CURRENT definition of the term.

PLEA FOR UPDATES / SUGGESTIONS
