The Lighthouse Sends Out A Search PartyVery few sites on the Web manage to combine beautiful graphics, elegant design and clever use of the underlying Web code, HTML. Soon after I discovered the Web, Joe Gillespie's Web Page Design For Designers appeared to show what was possible. My current favorite, though, is Prophet Communications. The Prophet site features no Java, no Javascript, no CGI scripts, no fanciness of any kind. It does featured a tiny, subtle front-page animation. It also boasts gorgeous typography, subtle colors and clever layout. My other long-time favorites in this vein include Dex, Porsche USA and the typographic triumph of Design Tank. Now I want to know: are there pages out there to top these - especially on Australian sites? E-mail your suggestions.
