Scott Ritter, whose book “Iraq Confidential” will be published in mid-October, is the former senior UN weapons inspector in Iraq, serving in that capacity from 1991 until 1998.

His book is not about the fact that Iraq didn’t have any Weapons of Mass Destruction. That much is known, and when confronted with this reality governments in the US, UK and Australia have blamed “faulty intelligence,” particularly that of the CIA. This book shows that far from being “faulty” the intelligence which was laid out as the case for war in 2003 was the product of a decade of CIA fabrications in support of a regime change agenda. It tells, for the first time, how the CIA co-opted the UN disarmament mission in Iraq. It provides never-seen-before glimpses into how international diplomacy really works. It’s message is not simply that we were lied to over Iraq’s WMDs, but that by destroying the credibility of international weapons inspections, the CIA has made the world a more dangerous place.
